In line with the European Football Championship: DERTOUR and Thomas Cook employees show the red card to German employers
Red card for German employers - ver.di pressures against the stalemate in collective bargaining
Since one year, the workers of tour operators and travel
agencies in Germany do not have a collective agreement which fixes the
salaries.
When the employers wanted to have a meager salary increase compensated
with an extension of working time, ver.di cancelled the collective
bargaining in January 2008.
The employers had offered a salary increase of 1.2% on average for 30
months, ver.di claimed 3% for 12 months.
There is again some movement in the negotiations.
After a 'warning strike' of 350 employees of TUI Germany on 11
June, talks were taken up again on 23 June.
These talks were accompanied by an action of around 250 employees of
DERTOUR, the third largest German tour operators, supported by a
delegation of Thomas Cook.
