UNI-EUROPA and UNI

UNI is a regional as well as a global organisation. Within Europe, and with seven million members, UNI-Europe is an important trade union player in Brussels. UNI’s aim is to act in the service of its member organisations and their members and to make an effective contribution at the heart of Europe by social dialogue in a series of industries, as well as by contact with, and lobbying at, the European Commission and, in increasing measure, by bringing our companies and campaigns to members of the European Parliament.
UNI-Europa wants to make a contribution to the building of a fair, social Europe. UNI already has a network of European Works Councils and UNI-Europe supports the idea that the role of the trade unions in these works councils will be more clearly defined in the future. UNI-Europe also plays an important and active role in the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC).
Further priorities are:

• Realisation of equal opportunities

• The support of trade unions in central and Eastern Europe

• Representation of highly qualified workers and specialists

• Development of better training in the workplace

• Extending activities into new areas (such as call centres) and inclusion of young people
